If we’re asked, “how many different ways of recreation we have heard about till now?”, there is a minimal possibility we could speak much about it. Even if we can, tree climbing definitely will not be one of them. So, tree climbing is a recreational activity that involves ascending and moving through the trees which is undoubtedly an exceptional way of recreation.
Despite its lack of popularity, tree climbing is an environmentally friendly practice in this decade of deforestation. An arborist is a person who specializes in the cultivation, maintenance, and study of individual trees. They’re climbing trees from the late 1800s, although it wasn’t a recreation back then. In the United States, it became a recreational activity involving some equipment in 1980.
At this moment we may think that it is similar to hiking or mountain climbing, but it is a completely distinct form of pastime practised by only a small number of people throughout the world, as it necessitates the use of specialized equipment such as tree climbing boots, rope, belt, and other accessories. Because there are so many varied sizes and shapes of trees, as well as personal comfort and choice, tree climbing can be done in a variety of techniques.
The greatest part about this passion is that it is connected to nature. The value of trees cannot be expressed in words. In the midst of global warming, when everyone is concerned about cutting down trees in massive quantities and trying to figure out how to save the planet from this catastrophe, a group of environment lovers created trees as a hobby of them, which might be a great initiative to help the world to avoid this disaster.
Now anyone can inquire about the safety of climbing a tree! Climbers claim that if a safe approach is maintained and appropriate equipment is employed, climbing is safer than many other popular sports! In 1983, an Atlanta arborist named Peter Jenkins came up with the idea of recreational tree climbing. He founded an organization named “Tree Climbers International” (TCI) to promote the fact that this form of recreation is safe for people of all ages! Because nearly every country was concerned about risk management, he was unable to obtain sufficient authorization to do so. After a long period, he was able to fulfil his ambitions.
Apart from the environmental issue, tree climbing is also beneficial for health because it requires the use of their entire body to climb a tree. It also benefits one’s physical strength and balance, and because climbers must be very conscious while climbing a tree, it contributes to the development of mental balance.
Tree climbing should receive more attention nowadays because it has always been a matter of relaxation to become connected with nature. Climbers should encourage people to participate in this remarkable activity, and every country should allow them to climb trees in their country. In such a way, a person might be healthy and fit in a world where obesity is on the rise. Most significantly, the world may be in a better position for all of us because if people become interested in this activity, deforestation will gain more hatred and may be prevented.
