Meditation refers to a practise where one trains the mind or persuades a mode of consciousness. It can also be defined as a set of techniques that brings a good number of benefits on psychological well being. By doing meditation a number of benefits can be achieved for example improvement of the states of consciousness, practicing hypnosis, relieving from headache, improving immunity, helping with anxiety and depression, improving mindfulness, improvement of self-awareness and also to be stress free. By doing meditation, the positive habits and transformations can occur in individuals. One type of meditation named concentrative meditation can improve the focus for particular work, another type of meditation helps to focus on breathing and reaches a higher state of being. On the contrary, the meditation name the Mindfulness meditation which includes the stress reduction and also works as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy(MBCT) this helps an individual to be in the present, make them open, aware and accepting. Some positive physiological benefits that need to be mentioned is that meditation reduces respiration rate, decreased heart rate, lowered stress and brings changes in brain wave patterns. It gives the better management of anxiety, disorders, depression, sleep disorders, pain issues and high blood pressure. Those who meditate regularly have claimed that they find good changes in different aspects of attention, improvement of emotional well-being, it brings improvement in working memory and fluid intelligence. Furthermore, by doing mediation the age processing can be reversed, the person doing meditation feels less stressed. Students who are trained in mindfulness meditation they found to achieve better grades. Meditation is linked to be with more creativity and more new ideas by processing emotions. Genes linked to inflammation can be reduced by doing mindfulness meditation. The person who is heavily drug addicted, cigarette, alcoholic; mediation can be good treatment for them to be less anxious. Some researchers have claimed that meditation as a best method for the look after of our mental health, by helping us to make control over our mind and feel relaxed. The mental health in our country is given less importance in our country and for some people it is still unknown that daily 10 to 15 minutes meditation can bring comfort to one’s mental health easily. For older adults mediation is a kind of blessing which makes them more happier and youthful. For students the memory retention abilities can significantly improve by involving in regular meditation.So, everybody should be encouraged in doing beneficial meditation practise regularly.
