In recent months, companies and organizations have adapted to remote work and hiring. Oftentimes, internship opportunities are remote, so you may face fiercer competition. There is a good chance that the entire interview process will be conducted virtually, which means you won’t have a chance to impress hiring managers in person. A little extra work and smarter thinking will help you stand out as a candidate.
❖ Your resume must include the right experience
It’s important to incorporate the relevant experience into your resume since recruiters often review hundreds of resumes per day. If you are comfortable using remote work technologies, like Google Docs or Slack, mention them in your resume. Include any major projects you completed in college or university relevant to the applying internship.
❖ Develop Your Network
It is important to build new contacts when you are looking for an internship. Recruiters can be reached, be contacted on social media, and you can connect with individuals who work at companies you are interested in working for. You should introduce yourself to the employee of the company and can know more about the position and company.
❖ Get Feedback
It’s impossible to get everything right the first time you apply for an internship. It is best to keep working on improving your application until you land an internship.
Try to get feedback from your interviewer. You can get feedback from your friends or seniors to look at your CV and skills. They can give you good feedback it is good or needs to be improved. You could ask a former or current intern friend to ask them how they landed their new internship if you failed to get an internship.
One last question before getting into an internship. Can you do an unpaid internship?
In general, most of all internships are unpaid but some companies pay. But if your internship is unpaid then you have to question you that are sure you can do an unpaid internship or not.
If your answer is positive then you are good at volunteerism. You can do an unpaid internship.
