We live in a hustle culture. It’s a generation where everyone continuously and constantly continues pushing forward. The people around you instruct you to be more productive, the internet reminds you constantly how to be productive. If you’re not being efficiently productive, then they tell you that you are wasting your time.
Rest is a predictive activity. Taking care of yourself is important for your productivity. Waking up with a good mindset is essential for your mental health. Resting, sleeping, eating, spending time with your family and friends are not external things to do, they’re productive activities too.
It’s okay to feel exhausted and not feel okay. Sure, there are expectations for you to be jolly and content. But self care is what your mental health expects of you.
Self care is extremely important especially in times like this. So sit back and relax. It is tough when your thoughts are spiraling. So take a break!
Here are some signs that you probably need a break :
- You have no energy lately.
- You find it hard to concentrate.
- You’re getting negative.
- You lack motivation.
- You’re feeling emotionally overwhelmed.
- You don’t sleep or rest well.
- Little things or slight inconvenience gets on your nerves.
- You’re getting sick very often.
- You don’t enjoy your favorite things any more.
If you can relate to the signs, I suppose it’s time for you to step back and take a break.
Surely, you can have a break and have a KitKat.
