As loneliness is a personal feeling, everyone experience it differently. Loneliness commonly refers to a situation when we need social contact but did not meet anyone.
Being alone or meet fewer people is not loneliness all the time. Some people may happy without much contact with other people. On the other hand, you may have too many social contacts, you may on a relationship but still you feel lonely.
Loneliness has a negative impact on our mental health. Some researchers suggest that loneliness can lead to be some sort of mental problems like Sleep problems, low self-esteem, anxiety, increase stress, and depression.
Expanding use of digital technology and social media increased the number of loneliness. Nowadays social media isolate people from social contact. But they are viewing social gatherings, group trip photos on social media. After seeing those photos on social media they feel bad about themselves.
It cannot be very easy to break out the circle of loneliness and stable out mental health.
We need to minimize the use of social media, focus on social contact, and meet new people regularly. Positive tasks will make our mental health stable.
