YSSE Academy has arranged its skill development bootcamp, “Corpo-Excellence” to make the youth generation ready for the corporate world. To survive in the corporate world, one has to know many techniques and acquire the necessary skills. Corpo-Excellence is designed to give the participants a generic idea about such techniques, skills, corporate culture, and many other required things. In its 3-day long session, the 1st phase of this bootcamp concentrated on the topic “Gateway to Corporate”.
The first phase of “Corpo-Excellence” took place on 17th February, 2021. Md. Sohebur Rahman, Senior Officer, Business Development, Nestle Bangladesh Limited, was present as a guest to speak on various topics of “Gateway to Corporate” in this phase of “Corpo-Excellence”.
Throughout the session, the instructor discussed different business related topics. After graduating from the Finance department of Dhaka University, he started his journey with Nestle Bangladesh in January, 2015 as an intern. At the end of a long one-year internship, he started his career in the same organization.
According to him, it is very important to choose one’s career as soon as the graduation is over. And for those who want to build their careers in the corporate world, you need to get acquainted with the world through internships. In that case, you need to focus on where you can find the learning platform without judging the good and the bad at the very beginning. This learning will add value to your career. You must choose that company or industry that has the learning opportunity for you. You have to judge for yourself, you have to decide which is better for you. You need to know how an organization or an industry works. You need to find out your strengths and weaknesses and set your own objectives.
Then comes the ‘Creating Your Self-brand’. It is what people think about you. You have to build yourself by accepting the reality. You have to believe ‘I am what I am’. You need to know about the demands, the expectations. And you must always be open to learn and develop yourself.
Then, you need to have an entrepreneurial mindset. Larger organizations have different parts, and their work is also very different. Initially, involvement with small organizations is helpful in our insight gatherings. You can get the opportunities to gain experience through these organizations. At the initial stage, your focus should be on learning, not the salary.
Finally, to build a career in the corporate world, you have to understand the business environment, understand what works are done in a particular department. Following this, based on the instructor’s organization, Nestle Bangladesh Limited, he made the works of the department of brand & marketing, sales, application group, regulatory affairs, etc. very understandable to everyone.
At the very end of that episode, participants got a chance to ask their questions and discuss corporate jobs in particular. Instructor Md. Sohebur Rahman highlighted all the issues nicely and finally ended the episode by expressing his gratitude towards YSSE for giving him the opportunity to speak in this session.
