The movie starts in an unknown mystical time frame. The scorpion king wants to invade the ancient city of Egypt. But his armies fail every time. He lost all his men in the desert. In his final moments, he calls upon the ancient dark god “Anubis”. Anubis gives him an army of the underworld to conquer the city. But in exchange, he demands the everlasting service of the scorpion king.
The king conquers but breaks the pact. Anubis forcefully takes him to the underworld & a curse is created. Whoever kills the scorpion king will lead the army of Anubis again.
The scene shifts to the late ’50s of London. A museum curator along with his cult members are trying to revive Imhotep. Coincidentally the medjai follows them & finds Connel & his family living in the same city.
Meanwhile, to make mummy Imhotep immortal, they need the bracelet of Anubis, which was stolen by notorious Alex.
All of the characters rejoin the party again like the prequel. The next seven days would be a breathtaking adventure throughout the ancient part of Egypt for a mysterious quest.
The most iconic scene is the last fight with the scorpion king. Apart from that more of the ancient stories are shown which unveils another dimension of animosity between Evylin and Imhotep’s lover Anak su Namun. There is a fighting scene between them in the ancient timeframe which was very much interesting
Profitwise it was another successful blockbuster. Grossed over 430 million dollars against the budget of 98 million.
Quality wise the movie was lightly criticized for not delivering great actions & special effects like the first part. The characters suffered a little to hold the same gesture as before. But overall the movie is as enjoyable & entertainment packed as the previous one.
